An new Job

So late last night I checked my email and noticed a message from PBS titled "An offer from PBS".

Now up until this point I had been moping around my mother's house wondering what I to do next with my life- an activity I've grown quite used to over the past few, more like 10, years. (And I'm sure that I will spend my entire life wondering about what to do next.) Should I drop everything, sell all my belongings and become a monk at the one-room monastery just south of Choctaw? Should I move out west to lala land, die my hair and pursue a secret life as a sound effects maker? Should I get a desk job working for the state, maybe develop a crush on a co-worker and get a dog? The possibilities are truly endless, (and I hope they always are.)

In reality though, I'd started a minor obsession with finding the perfect Oklahoma summer shirt at the thrift shop. This, combined with plotting out routes to save on gas while driving around aimlessly and being haunted by dreams of my ex with his ex- having children, made the near future look pretty grim. Wasting money, gas and time.

So, I opened the message and it was a nice and pleasant, but not surprising, job offer!
Woo Hoo! Finally three years of living below the poverty line and a year in sub-zero Syracuse have paid off! I'd thought about this job offer for a while, but in reality this moment leaves me with a wonderful feeling- pride in myself and the choices I've made.

I am looking forward to a move to the beautiful city/ metro of Washington DC. From what I've seen in person, excluding the news stories comparing DC to Baghdad, it is such a lovely city. And I look forward to it welcoming me! (Plus the occasional jaunt up to NYC for some Bean, Claire and Monkey time.)

High Five!
